Preventative and Family Care
Regular Care - Oral health means more than just an attractive smile. Poor oral health and untreated oral disease and conditions can have a significant impact on quality of life and in cases, the condition of the mouth mirrors the condition of the body as a whole. Recent reports indicate a relationship between periodontal (gum) disease and stroke, heart disease, and pre-term low birth-weight babies. Likewise, more than 90 percent of all systemic diseases have oral manifestations, meaning we may be the first health care provider to diagnose a health problem.
Sealants - A sealant is a clear shaded plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars), where decay occurs most often.
Composite Fillings
Until recently, dentists filled and sealed cavities exclusively using a silver and mercury amalgam. Unfortunately, these fillings (or restorations) often weaken teeth due to the large amount of the original tooth that has to be removed. Modern dentistry has increasingly turned to composite fillings as a strong, safe and more natural looking alternative.
Cosmetic Bonding
Is a procedure in which a tooth colored resin is applied and hardened with a curing light. The material bonds to the tooth and restores and improves a person's smile.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Includes a variety of dental treatments aimed at improving the appearance of the teeth.
Periodontal Treatment
Gum disease - By the age of 40, over 70% of the nation' population has some stage of the disease. Gum disease is particularly dangerous because the progression of the disease is often painless and undetected until it creates serious problems. Cosmetic dentistry includes a variety of dental treatments aimed at improving the appearance of the teeth.
Digital Radiography
Gives us the ability to store images on the computer. Less radiation. We can zoom in and out which aids in diagnosing and providing easier patient communication. It also allows us to communicate images electronically with specialists and insurance companies.
Crown / Bridge
A crown is a permanent covering that fits over the original tooth. Crowns can be made of porcelain, gold and other metals. Porcelain crowns typically have the most realistic appearance. Crowns can whiten, reshape, and realign existing teeth, adding to a healthy and vibrant smile. For individuals who wish to replace missing teeth, dental implant crowns may be an effective long-term solution.
Bridges
A bridge is a device used to fill the space where a tooth has fallen out or been removed. A typical bridge consists of a pontic (a filler tooth) that is attached to two surrounding crowns (abutments).
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells that are laid onto the teeth and bonded to the surface. Although they can be made of different materials, porcelain is frequently used because of its durability and realistic appearance. Veneers are a more conservative alternative to crowns since they require less removal of the tooth's original surface. With veneers in place, patients can expect straighter, whiter, and more even teeth.
Dental Implant Restoration
Dental implants enable dentists to create healthy, attractive smiles in an innovative way. Used to replace one or more missing teeth, implants are another alternative to conventional bridges and dentures. In essence, dental implant act and look like natural teeth. And, because they maintain bone mass, dental implants can help prevent additional tooth loss as well as the sunken facial appearance associated with missing teeth.
A dental implant restoration consists of a bio-compatible titanium screw and post topped by a crown, bridge or denture. The implant is surgically replaced into the jawbone where it replaces the natural tooth root. In a few months, the implant securely attaches to the bone, (called "osseointegration") allowing it to withstand biting and chewing forces just like a healthy, natural tooth.
Teeth Whitening
Tooth discoloration may be the result of medications, aging, smoking, poor oral hygiene, genetics, certain beverages or foods, or a combinations of these factors. We offer an in office tooth whitening solution, as well as a take home tooth whitening kit.
In-Office whitening - People with most types of discoloration can achieve lighter teeth through the Professional Whitening System. The whitening gel is a hydrogen peroxide formula that is used in conjunction with a curing light. It is a one visit procedure that is performed under the supervision of the dentist and does not harm the teeth or the gums.
Take-home whitening - The take-home whitening system is achieved in three different office visits. On the first visit, impressions are taken of your upper and lower teeth. Special trays are then fabricated from the impressions to custom fit your teeth, usually taking approximately one week from the first visit. You then receive the trays and tubes of whitening gel to aid you in your whitening process. After 2 weeks of using the trays with the whitening gel at home, a third visit helps us to re-evaluate the whitening progress you have made. Using the take home whitening system allows you to control the whitening shade you desire.
